- Perform thorough neurological assessments, including physical examinations, medical history reviews, and diagnostic tests.
- Interpret diagnostic tests such as MRIs, CT scans, EEGs, and EMGs to aid in diagnosis.
- Formulate differential diagnoses based on assessment findings and diagnostic results.
- Develop individualized treatment plans based on the patient's diagnosis, symptoms, and preferences.
- Prescribe medications, therapies, and interventions to manage neurological conditions effectively.
- Monitor patients' responses to treatment and adjust plans as necessary.
- Educate patients and their families about neurological conditions, treatment options, and self-management strategies.
- Provide counseling and support to address emotional, psychological, and lifestyle aspects of living with neurological disorders.
- Collaborate with neurologists, nurses, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure holistic patient care.
- Coordinate referrals to specialists and community resources as needed.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records, including patient histories, assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and healthcare policies.
- Stay current with advances in neurology research and evidence-based practices.
- Participate in research projects, quality improvement initiatives, and continuing education activities to enhance clinical practice.
- 3+ years of experience in a neurologic or psychiatric/mental health setting
- Current state licensure as a Nurse Practitioner
- Active BLS, CPR/AED
- DEA License required
- Bilingual, Spanish - required
