The director of extended and auxiliary programs reports directly to the associate head of school for finance and operations and the head of lower school.
The director is responsible for strategic planning, management and operations of all Franklin Road Academy's auxiliary programs for students in grades PreK3 – 8, including extended care, after school enrichments, and summer and winter camps.
The purpose of the director of extended and auxiliary programs position is to enhance the student experience outside of the classroom through exploratory learning opportunities and exposure to new experiences in arts, academics, and athletics.
Secondary goals include revenue generation for the academy and community building through faculty-led opportunities.This is a full-time, 12-month position.
Responsibilities of the director of extended and auxiliary programs:
Coordinates, schedules, and directly supervises all aspects of extended and auxiliary programs
Embraces the mission and values of FRA in order to serve as a knowledgeable and committed spokesperson and primary contact for all stakeholder communication
Collaborates with the human resources manager to recruit, hire, train, and supervise teachers, staff members, and external vendors to organize and facilitate auxiliary programs, ensuring that all instructors perform their duties with the highest level of professionalism
Serves as primary contact for the TN State Department of Education for Before/After Care Programs and ensures programs remain in compliance and good standing by satisfactory completion of all documentation and hosting of representative twice a year
Collaborates with the marketing and communications team to create and update online marketing materials for all programs and generate enthusiasm for all families.
Coordinate with the assistant head of school for finance and operations to ensure all auxiliary facilitators and staff meet contractual obligations and are compensated correctlyConsults regularly with the business office to monitor program budget and generate reports
Responsible for all program operations including routines, procedures, parent pick up/drop off, rosters, etc.
Collaborates with the assistant head of school for finance and operations and head of lower school to plan facility needs and usage
Responds to disciplinary issues that arise and communicates with all necessary stakeholders to promote the success of all students
Participates in professional development sessions and school events as required
Responsibilities for summer camps & after school enrichments:
Manages the registration, billing, and processing for all program offerings through our digital platform
Sends regular updates to families, teachers, staff, and vendors regarding all programming logistics to ensure smooth operations and positive rapport
Monitors attendance closely to ensure all students are accounted for at all times
Responsibilities for extended care program:
Maintains an extended care program that serves the students and families of Franklin Road Academy
Establishes positive and effective rapport with students and creates a program-wide environment that is favorable to safety, enjoyment, learning, and personal growth of students
Manages and oversees the responsibilities of the assistant director and empowers their success i.e. curriculum development, behavior management, stakeholder communication, and management of extended care staff.
Hires, trains, and monitors extended care staff (approximately 8-12 employees) in the daily supervision and care for students in the program.
Staff members are expected to facilitate specific activities for their student groups.Maintains expectations for student behavior by establishing a high bar for student conduct after school and community member partnerships
Sends monthly updates to all stakeholders regarding program updates and logisticss
Communicate regularly with the business office to record and bill students who utilize drop-in services.
Qualifications:
5 to 10 years of teaching and/or administrative experience in a school or youth-serving organization
Experience in marketing, sales, business and/or program development is highly desirable
Experience and confidence with the supervision and coordination of a high volume of students
Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, with a professional, customer service oriented, and empathetic approach
Exceptional entrepreneurial and organizational skills.
The ideal candidate is able to organize high volumes of data and maintains personal systems to account for all students, schedules and last-minute changes.
Excellent oral and written communication skills; timely and responsive to emailsDetail-oriented and able to multitask
Computer literacy in registration software and proficiency with spreadsheets and presentation software
Working hours:
generally 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., with additional time needed on early dismissal days and school holidays
