    Description

    Ombudsperson Position at UC Santa Barbara

    Role Overview

    • Responsible for providing impartial, confidential conflict resolution services
    • Offers individual and group coaching on conflict management techniques
    • Refers to internal and external resources and facilitates effective dialogues
    • Conducts workshops, assesses campus climate, and recommends systemic changes

    Department Background

    The Office of the Ombuds at UC Santa Barbara ensures fairness by addressing workplace issues, conflicts, academic concerns, and more.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
    • Proficiency in diversity and multiculturalism
    • Demonstrated ability to resolve problems independently and collaboratively
    • Excellent communication and analytical skills
    • Experience in conflict management or related fields

    Preferences

    • Ability to de-escalate crises and maintain empathy under stress
    • Knowledge of UC structure and policies
    • Proficiency in Spanish

    Certifications

    • CO-OP or equivalent practice with IOA standards
    • Mediation and facilitation skills

    • Satisfactory background check required
