    Job Overview

    Responsible for managing production and facility equipment maintenance, repair programs for the Wayne and Mahwah facilities, landscaping, housekeeping, and security services for the Wayne facility. Responsible for the environmental, health, safety and sustainability program management, implementation and compliance for the Cardiac Assist and Cardiac Surgery business units.

    Job Responsibilities and Essential Duties

    • Direct and supervise the performance of the technical staff to perform installation, maintenance and repair of production and related equipment used in the manufacture of medical device products and manage risks to ensure equipment uptime for the Wayne and Mahwah facilities.
    • Direct and supervise the performance of the technical staff to perform installation, qualification, maintenance and repair of facility related equipment related such as electrical systems, HVAC and refrigerant systems, nitrogen gas, vacuum, compressed air, boilers and other facility related equipment and systems for the Wayne facility
    • Supervise the scheduling of technical staff, materials, parts, training and other requirements to ensure that all production and facility related equipment maintenance, projects and installations are executed in compliance with all project requirements and quality systems policies and procedures and in an efficient manner for the Wayne and Mahwah facilities
    • Supervise others to ensure that documentation of required maintenance, qualifications, training records and other applicable records are complete and readily available, all policies and procedures related to FDA Quality Systems Regulations, Medical Device Directive and ISO standards and regulations are understood and effectively trained, and necessary changes to these procedures are enacted for the Cardiac Assist and Cardiac Surgery business units
    • Supervise Facilities Coordinator to ensure that computerized maintenance management system is updated and utilizing data to measure, track and report on departmental performance.
    • Manage the identification, use and replenishment of spare parts for the Wayne and Mahwah facilities.
    • Develop systems and plans to manage current and future facility space requirements and capital equipment infrastructure requirements.
    • Supervise housekeeping services to ensure compliance with all clean room requirements and documentation.
    • Direct all general facilities work related to building installations, construction, repair and finishing and grounds care.
    • Develop annual budget and staffing plans, ensure technical staff coverage based on Cardiac Assist and Cardiac Surgery business requirements and the need to respond to environmental system alarms, utilize outside contractors and manage day to day operations to achieve these commitments.
    • Track and trend departmental performance data and metrics and implement changes to improve departmental performance.
    • Serve as Wayne and Mahwah Site Emergency Coordinator.
    • Serves as the Environmental Management System and Health and Safety Representative for the Cardiac Assist and Cardiac Surgery business units.
    • Serve as the Equipment Maintenance and Facilities SME for all third-party audits for the Cardiac Assist and Cardiac Surgery business units.
    • Supervises technical staff in maintaining the Environmental Management system to ensure compliance to ISO 14001 and that all clean room environment conditions achieve those set forth by internal policies and procedures.
    • Direct and supervise the CA/CS Sustainability Engineer and oversee the development and implementation of sustainability initiatives for the Cardiac Assist and Cardiac Surgery business units.

    Minimum Requirements

    • A Bachelors' degree (or equivalent) in Engineering, Facilities Management or other related field and/or combination education and experience is required
    • A minimum of seven to ten years of experience in facility and equipment maintenance, with a minimum of three to five years directly supervising maintenance staff is required.
    • A minimum of ten to fifteen years of progressive experience managing facility and equipment maintenance with specific experience in the following: environmental clean room control systems, HVAC and refrigerant systems, building electrical systems, vacuum, compressed air, nitrogen gas, high pressure boilers, repair and maintenance of electro-mechanical production equipment, housekeeping and grounds keeping, with an FDA regulated and ISO certified manufacturer is preferred.

    Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

    • Must be able to demonstrate leadership by communicating with technical and administrative staff, internal and external customers and vendors effectively, organizing departmental work and executing through others on planned commitments, developing a high performance organization by building skills and competencies and inspiring effective teamwork and high commitment, exhibiting effective analytical and problem solving skills.
    • Professional certificates in any of the following areas would be a plus: Energy Management, Maintenance Management & Plant Engineering.

    Salary: $150K - $170K + Bonus targeted at 25% (depending on overall company performance)
