JOB SUMMARY

To ensure safe, reliable, and cost-efficient vehicles by conducting quality preventive maintenance inspections and repairs, as well as expert diagnosis and repair to prevent road breakdowns, minimize vehicle downtime, and enhance total fleet reliability.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Conduct required inspections and preventive maintenance on vehicles and equipment within planned timeframes to enhance safety, reliability, and cost-efficiency throughout the fleet's lifecycle.
Perform FAI/CVI (Annual) inspections on all fleet vehicles, including tractors, trailers, converter dollies, light-duty vehicles, and other company-owned equipment, in compliance with all relevant legal and regulatory requirements.
Carry out quality preventive maintenance inspections on all fleet vehicles, such as tractors, trailers, converter dollies, refrigeration units (Reefer), and more.
Perform necessary maintenance repairs to ensure safety and reliability of all fleet vehicles, including tractors, trailers, converter dollies, and light-duty vehicles.
Undertake preventive maintenance, diagnosis, and repair of refrigeration units (Reefer).
Address all Driver Vehicle Inspection Report write-ups promptly and effectively.
Diagnose malfunctions and perform repairs to manufacturer specifications on various vehicle systems, including engines, transmissions, brakes, HVAC systems, and more.
Mentor and share expertise with junior Fleet Technicians to support their professional development.
Provide moderate supervisory support when Fleet Managers or Supervisors are unavailable.
Proficient in electrical meter testing and various electrical systems.
Complete electrical repairs and welding projects as necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

High school diploma or GED required
Current valid driver's license (CDL Preferred, Not Required)

Experience

Medium/Heavy Duty truck technical training
2-year school and 4 years of experience OR 5 years of experience in fleet maintenance and repair

Certifications, Licenses, and Registrations

Annual Inspector Certification Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
ASE certifications & Automotive or Medium/Heavy Duty Trucks
EPA Section 608 (Core & Type II) and 609 HVAC & Refrigeration Certification

Professional Skills

Expert knowledge and skill of all vehicle systems and components
Expertise in diagnosis and repair of vehicle electrical systems
Expertise in refrigeration systems diagnosis and repair
Proficiency in Preventive Maintenance Inspections and repair
Knowledge in welding and cutting techniques
Familiarity with DOT regulations and OSHA safety standards
Ability to operate diagnostic software and tools for maintenance and repair

Physical Demands

Regularly sit, stand, walk, and use hands and fingers for various tasks
Frequently lift and move up to 20 pounds
Perform tasks requiring excellent hand and finger dexterity
Operate a range of equipment and tools

Working Conditions

May be exposed to various environmental conditions and mechanical parts
Work non-traditional hours and occasional travel may be required
Possible exposure to high places, confined spaces, fumes, and airborne particles
Moderate noise level in the work environment
