- 2+ years of civil engineering experience
- Design of public works facilities
- Development review plan checking
- Bachelor's degree
- Engineer-in-training (EIT) certificate OR possession of a current registration as a Civil Engineer in the state of CA
- Knowledge of principles, practices and methods of civil engineering as applied to the planning, design, construction, and maintenance of public works facilities
- Strength, properties, and use of materials in engineering construction
- Principles of survey work.
- Prepare accurate plans, specifications, cost estimates, and engineering reports
- Make accurate engineering computations and drawings
- Experience working in state and local government
- Prepare and review various studies and surveys
- Prepare plans, specifications, and estimates for assigned projects.
- Prepare engineering designs and related drawings, specifications, and estimates for construction, improvement and maintenance of public works facilities
- Prepare preliminary and final designs and calculations for size and strength of structural members and materials needed.
- Conduct special studies and reports; i.e., street relocations, traffic flow, street and highway deficiencies, land use and development and similar matters.
- Review subdivision and site improvement plans submitted by private engineers for street alignment, street grades, drainage, sewer and utility facilities, and related structural characteristics.
- Prepare development conditions; review and issue encroachment permits
- Participate as a member of the Development Action Review Team (DART)
- Interact and correspond with private engineers, developers, and contractors
- Review or prepare traffic control plans for development or capital projects
- Conduct engineering studies for the installation of traffic control devices
- Prepare or review all phases of engineering design, plans and specifications for the construction of street lighting, traffic signals/interconnect, signing, striping, and pavement markings
- Perform field inspections of traffic signal installations and operations, street lighting, signing and striping
- Conduct traffic and transportation studies; design, develop, and implement traffic signal timing intelligent transportation systems and communication fiber/copper networks; perform system analysis and provide recommendations to improve signal system effectiveness through field observations or software tools such as Synchro.
- Analyze crash and collision analysis of all modes and recommend mitigations to reduce trends
- Meet with residents, contractors, or developers to resolve conflicts involving traffic control devices
- Work with maintenance staff in implementing various traffic control devices
- Perform related duties as assigned.

Insight Global is seeking a self-motivated individual with strong communication skills. The Assistant Civil Engineer will work under the supervision of an Associate Civil Engineer or Senior Civil Engineer and will lead or assist work efforts to support the group.

Compensation:
$30/hr to $35/hr.
Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.
Benefit packages for this role will start on the 31st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401k retirement account access with employer matching. Employees in this role are also entitled to paid sick leave and/or other paid time off as provided by applicable law.
