Senior Commercial Lines Underwriter , you will help fulfill the promise that Central makes to our customers with effective management of your assigned territory through building strong relationships with agents, writing a profitable book of business, and providing top-notch service.
How You'll Make an ImpactAssists as needed in training, mentoring, and development of new or less experienced team membersReviews referrals within assigned letter of authorityAudits individual underwriting files as requested to ensure compliance with company strategy and regulatory requirementsActs as a technical resourceDevelops and maintains strong relationships with agents, traveling as needed for agency visitsCommunicates effectively, providing prompt and professional serviceDevelops and maintains strong internal relationships within the underwriting team and with other business units such as loss control, customer service, claims, and marketingSelects profitable new business through analysis of the risks presented, coverage requested, and losses incurredClassifies and prices risks appropriately using underwriting judgement and analytical tools and resourcesManages and underwrites assigned book of business to achieve profitability and meet financial objectivesProvides input and data to help drive and implement strategic underwriting initiativesDemonstrates a commitment to continuing education and developmentWhat You'll BringBachelor's degree in relevant field and 4 years Commercial Lines Underwriting experienceOr 6 years of Commercial Lines Underwriting experienceKnowledge of Commercial Lines coverages and policies in assigned statesAbility to professionally interact with our customersAbility to investigate, gather facts and information, and analyze coverageUnderstand the importance of capturing dataPossess an innovative and continuous improvement mindsetPossess a positive, professional, cooperative, and quality-conscious service attitudeAbility to work under pressure, deal with interpersonal conflict, and handle a heavy workloadPossesses analytical and problem-solving skillsPossesses verbal and written communication skills, including negotiation, presentation, and influence skillsAbility to understand Central Insurance's policies and processesAbility to travel to assigned agents including occasional overnightPreferredSuccessful completion of one or more professional designations such as CPCU, CIC, etc.
