    The Heritage Community is a residential treatment program for adolescents, ages 12 – 18.     Spark Academy is currently seeking to hire a full-time Math Teacher who is also endorsed in Special Education. Our students need the individualized attention and expertise of a SPED endorsed educator We strive to restore resiliency and confidence in our students' education; thus, the ideal incumbent must exemplify resourcefulness and a learning mindset, being innovative in teaching methods.     Schedule:
    • Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM. Our academic calendar and contracts are YEAR-ROUND, with week-long breaks in between each semester.

    Knowledge and Abilities:
    • Understanding of adolescent development, with competence in instructional pedagogy for the adolescent population.
    • Aptitude of special education, particularly methods to successfully teach students on the high-functioning Autism Spectrum or who demonstrate other neurodiverse behaviors or diagnoses.
    • Instructional skills that are engaging and edifying, while balanced with diligence and tenacity.
    • Excellent organization skills to provide a physical and academic structure conducive to learning.
    • Even temperament, with ability to mediate situations calmly when students need support due to escalation or frustration.

    Duties and Responsibilities:
    • Teach lesson plans in assigned subject of Math, specifically Secondary Math I, II, and III.
    • Design lesson plans with clearly defined goals and objectives.
    • Educate students, ages 12 to 18, with various academic levels and special needs.
    • Frequently communicate and work with the Academic Advisors to receive updates regarding IEP goals for each student assigned to your classroom.
    • Maintain accurate and complete records of students' progress and development, submitting grade reports to Academic Advisors on time.

    Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's Degree in Special Education, Secondary Education, or specific field of study to teach Math.
    • Current Utah Educator license, with SPED endorsement.
    • If SPED endorsement is not completed, must be willing and able to work toward receiving endorsement through our affiliated university or a different institution as approved by the Principal.
    • Must be at least 21 years of age or older to apply.
    • Proficiency and fluency in speaking, understanding, reading, and writing English.
