    About the Team:
    Motorola's Software Platform Security team is a group of software engineers and researchers focused on securing our Android-based smartphones. We deal with all aspects of device security, including static and dynamic code analysis, code signing, and factory provisioning. Every day we address and research cutting-edge problems in mobile security, bringing best-of-class protections to millions of users

    Description and Requirements


    We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Summer 2024 Intern to join our team and assist with securing our Android phones.

    This internship offers a unique opportunity to collaborate with our talented engineering professionals, engage in problem-solving, and gain essential experience in security and privacy through Android platform and application development.


    Primary Responsibilities:
    Work to classify and understand the causes and mechanisms of Android security vulnerabilities and exploits

    Reverse-engineer and analyze existing software components to discover and fix new vulnerabilities

    Develop and enhance vulnerability scanning tools, protections, and penetration testing techniques

    Research and measure emerging and existing threats to the mobile device ecosystem

    Work to develop, deploy, and document novel security and privacy system(s) for Android-based smartphones


    Basic Qualifications:
    Pursuing BS degree in CS, CE, Cybersecurity or related field

    Strong programming skills in one or more languages like Java, Python, C, C++, or MATLAB

    Knowledge of mobile platform security threats and mitigation strategies

    Familiarity with UNIX environments, security testing tools, and techniques


    Preferred Qualifications:
    Pursuing MS/Ph.
    D. degree in CS, CE, Cybersecurity or related field

    Experience with Android application and/or platform development

    Knowledge of mobile platform security threats and mitigation strategies

    Familiarity with cryptography and application of cryptographic protocols

    Excellent interest in software code security or "white hat" hacking

    Excellent problem-solving skills and a passion for technology

    Excellent communication and collaboration abilities

    Ability to work independently and as part of a team

    Eagerness to learn and adapt to new challenges
