- Roles & Responsibilities:
- Required:
- Assemble and catheter-based prototypes
- Troubleshoot assembly issues and determine quick prototyping workarounds
- Teardown / debug prototypes to help root cause performance or assembly failures
- Provide design and assembly feedback to the engineering team
- Develop assembly and manufacturing techniques
- Preferred: design and develop simple fixturing and tooling for assembly and/or testing.
- A Plus:
- Perform component verification testing and product validation testing
- Training of operators for process transfer from development to manufacturing
- Minimum Education: High school diploma or GED
- Proficient with commonly used catheter assembly and inspection equipment - e.g., microscope, soldering, hot box, laminator, braiders, coil winder, adhesive dispenser
- Excellent manual dexterity and confidence in assembling complex and small assemblies
- Hands-on with the proven ability to work well within an engineering team environment
- Excellent creative hands on problem-solving skills
- Familiar with measurement tools: dial calipers, micrometers, snap gauge, timer and optical comparator, force gauges, Instron and other materials testing equipment
- Clear communication and documentation skills
- Preferred: Experience with CAD/Solidworks. Able to design simple fixtures and tooling

Primary Function of Position:
Intuitive Surgical designs and manufactures highly complex mechanical systems for use in surgery. The Senior NPD Technician is responsible for supporting the development of new and existing product designs.
The critical need for this role is to support prototype builds and troubleshooting, however, preference will be given to candidates that also have skillset in fixture design, testing, and documentation.
