Job Title: Utility Meter ReaderThe primary objective of this position is to read water meters and record consumption. Tasks include cleaning meter boxes, removing vegetation that impedes access to meters, and performing manual work such as taking readings from dial meters.
Meter readers report to the Customer Service Supervisor. Essential duties involve reading meter dials with hand-held units or laptop computers, maintaining general cleanliness of meter boxes by clearing debris and sand, and safely navigating routes to collect data on a regular basis.
Utility Meter Readers must also be able to identify problems that prevent accurate readings including damage caused by wildlife encounters like bees or snakes which may block access paths leading up away from buildings along designated walkways/pathways; in addition perform routine inspections.
