    Position Summary

    Responsibilities for the FHA Underwriter will involve handling various mortgage loan documentation tasks for conforming and complex loans, leveraging in-depth knowledge of loan product policies and procedures. The role includes underwriting mortgage loan applications, assessing loans to optimize profitability and reduce risks. The position requires experience and judgment to set and meet objectives.

    Specific Duties and Responsibilities

    • Review and evaluate loan applicants' financial information to make informed decisions on loans
    • Collaborate with team members to find solutions for denied loan files
    • Analyze complex financial documents and tax returns
    • Stay updated on program and investor guidelines
    • Provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers
    • Mentor Underwriter I's when needed
    • Maintain knowledge of available loan products
    • Adhere to security policies regarding confidentiality
    • Utilize DU and LP underwriting systems
    • Develop constructive relationships with colleagues
    • Participate in discussions for department efficiency

    Preferred Qualifications and Experience

    • Minimum of two years of mortgage loan underwriting experience
    • Proficiency with DU and LP underwriting systems
    • DE delegation required
    • Ability to work in a production environment with minimum quotas
    • Thorough understanding of FHA guidelines and loan products
    • Strong communication skills
    • Ability to multitask and work well under pressure

    Physical and Work Conditions

    Standard office environment, equipment, and tasks. Partial sitting and walking required. Willingness to work overtime when necessary.
