    Position Summary

    The assistant professor in the Section of Endodontics at UCLA School of Dentistry is looking for highly motivated individual interested in a Staff Researcher Associate I (SRA) position to investigate mechanisms and novel therapies for bone biology and stem-cell-based regenerative medicine. The researcher assists with experiments to study cell and molecular, signaling transductions, and bone regeneration in rodent models of apical periodontitis and uncontrolled diabetes. Under general supervision of the PI, the SRA will primarily be responsible for coordinating and conducting research studies (e.g., designing and implementing experiments, programming experimental tasks, data collection, sample preparation for RNA sequencing or other sequencing analysis, processing and analyzing data, subject recruitment, literature reviews, and assisting with manuscript preparations) and general lab management (e.g., lab website maintenance, ordering, maintaining lab computers and equipment, and planning lab events and research meetings). In addition, the SRA is critical to managing rodent colonies, breeding, survival surgeries, pre and post-op care, collection of tissues and cells, culturing and maintaining primary cells and tissues, and performing in vitro experiments. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to make creative contributions to research.

    Salary & Compensation

    *UCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations.     Qualifications

  • Experience Bone biology, stem-cell-based skeletal regeneration, diabetes research, and/or inflammation and immunology related research (Required)
  • Experience Animal models, in vivo experiments, and culturing. (Required)
  • Experience RNA sequencing or other sequencing analysis. (Preferred)
  • Experience Managing a research lab. (Preferred)
  • Strong ethics and organizational skills. (Required)
  • Organizing and maintaining lab supplies and equipment inventory. (Required)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. (Required)
  • Familiarity with various statistical analyses and in vitro experiments such as immunohistochemistry, RNA isolation, quantitative RT-PCR, and Western blotting analysis, etc. (Preferred)
  • Ability to maintain records of materials, supplies, time, and work performed. (Required)
  • Ability to follow precedents and procedures, set priorities, and organize work within the general guidelines. (Required)
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member (Required)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (Required)
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks independently (Required)
  • Ability to interact with internal and external stakeholders. (Required)
  • Ability to multi-task and take on projects simultaneously. (Required)
  • Ability to conduct literature searches for knowledge essential for use in laboratory experiments. (Preferred)

    • Bachelor's Degree Biochemistry, Biology, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience (Required)
