The Lead Welder, organizes, manages, and completes welding repairs, reconditioning, services, and new fabrications on equipment and components
Essential Functions:
Personally model, promote, reinforce, and reward the consistent use of HOLT's Values Based Leadership (VBL) tools, models, and processes to ensure alignment with our Vision, Values, and Mission StatementManages the performance of repair welds on equipment and componentsInspects arc welding, air arc, gas welding, and cutting done by WeldersInspects and approves the fabrication of new components from shop drawings and/or blueprintsWorks as a member of a team to provide excellent technical services that satisfy customer needs and achieve departmental goalsWorks overtime as required by workload and customers' needsPrepares and completes all job-related documents, writes service reports, orders parts, and maintains clear customer records; in addition, accesses databases required to complete a jobExamines workpieces for defects to ensure conformance with specificationsMaintains all company equipment, tools, and work areas in a good, clean, and working orderPerforms and completes all tasks with no supervisionProvides significant task and behavior-oriented supervision to other WeldersDefines repair time frames per job and ensures completionActs on behalf of the supervisor for defined periods of time and defined tasks; frequently called upon by the supervisor to lead others in the accomplishment of tasks by directing and managing on-site resourcesProvides assistance, coaching, and mentoring to other WeldersAdheres to contamination control and HAZMAT rules and regulationsWorks safely at all times and adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with all company policies, procedures, and standardsRequires regular and punctual employee attendancePerforms other duties as assignedKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Knowledge of safe work procedures and practicesKnowledge of equipment and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenanceKnowledge of current computer software, related hardware, and machine electronic systemsExceptional customer service skillsPlanning and organizing skillsExcellent work habits, accuracy, attention to detail, and quality of workVerbal and written communication skillsEffective influencing skills which include motivating and developing customers and employeesTime management skills in order to develop plans for structuring self and others to attain maximum productivity by establishing deadlines, milestones, tasks, resources, and achievement of goals and work resultsCritical thinking and problem-solving skills to apply logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, approaches, and prevention of problemsAbility to work independently and as part of a teamAbility to operate hand tools, power tools, pneumatic tools, and equipment used in fabrication and weldingAbility to be self-starting, self-motivated, and be a leaderAbility to make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands in order to grasp, manipulate, or assemble very small objectsAbility to read, write, and understand informationAbility to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentencesEducation and Experience:High school diploma or equivalentFive to eight years of Welding, Machining, and Fabrication experience
