Job Summary

The supervisor role at Huron Valley-Sinai Hospital involves acting as a liaison during designated shifts, serving as a resource for both management and staff, providing on-site problem-solving, validating decision-making related to nursing practice, contributing to policy and procedure development, and participating in the education and development of patient care staff.

This position requires a deep commitment to continuous improvement, teamwork, and upholding the mission, vision, and values of the DMC. The supervisor must adhere to the DMC Customer Service Standards and ensure compliance with various regulations and policies.

• On off shifts, weekends, and holidays, serve as an administrative liaison, making crucial decisions about staff and patient placement, facilitating interdepartmental collaboration, and promoting shared decision-making.
• Collaborate with healthcare disciplines to deliver optimal patient care, be available for call, and work across various facilities.
• Utilize leadership actions and customer service standards, interpret and implement hospital and nursing policies, actively participate in staff development, and conduct rounds on patient care areas.
• Adjust staffing as needed, monitor staff interactions, act as a resource for patient care, respond to emergencies, assist with staff orientation and training, collaborate to meet unit goals, and participate in performance improvement activities.

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing or currently enrolled in a BSN program; or, eight or more years of clinical experience.
• Over two years of progressive nursing experience, with management experience preferred.
• Registered Nurse (RN) license in Michigan.

• Analytical ability and clinical knowledge to make strategic recommendations.
• Ability to adapt to changing work conditions and handle a high-stress environment.
• Interpersonal, leadership, and educational skills to establish effective communication and relationships.
• Willingness to contribute meaningfully to the work environment through behavior and attitude.
• Clinical knowledge to facilitate patient care accurately.
