This position is responsible for assisting with planning, organizing, and directing the risk management functions at PSH&TC. Assists in coordination of investigations of reported incidents with assigned staff, risk management committee, Peer Review committees, and Administration, as necessary. Assists in development and establishment of a system for analyzing the frequency and causes Reportable Incidents within the hospital. Assists in taking measures to minimize the occurrence of Reportable Incidents and resulting injuries. Assists in interpreting guidelines set by state agencies and PSH&TC policies and procedures. Assists in developing a system to monitor follow up of Risk Management determination. The Assistant Risk Manager is allowed considerable latitude to perform Risk Management activities throughout the hospital. Work direction and expectations are provided through the Risk Manager or Superintendent. The hospital's Risk Management Plan serves as a basis for the work and specific time frames, with specific input from the supervisor or other administrators as needed. Assignments will arise as incidents are reported and require evaluation at the time received. The Assistant Risk Manager must be knowledgeable about the hospital policies and procedures, federal and state laws, and regulations, as well as a good working knowledge of other professional, hospital standards and requirements. Minimum Criteria:
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Some investigative skills
  • Preferred Criteria:
  • Background of data collection from confidential sources.
  • LPN or RN License with one year of experience.
  • Staff who operates a motor vehicle must possess a valid Kansas driver's license. An approved drug test is required unless the incumbent is moving from one safety-sensitive position to another safety-sensitive position within the same agency performing substantially similar duties.
