    Job Description

    Hybrid onsite in the Lexington MA area.
    Must be in a commutable distance to the client office.
    Adhoc onsite.
    Contract role, W2 only, Long term potential.

    Our client is actively seeking a Data Modeler who can design, implement, and document data architecture and data modeling solutions, which include the use of relational, dimensional, and NoSQL databases.

    They will work closely with data architects to design bespoke databases using a mixture of conceptual, physical, and logical data models.


    Responsibilities:
    Develop and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models that align with project requirements. Ensure data models accurately represent data structures, relationships, and attributes.

    Collaborate with stakeholders, including analysts and subject matter experts, to gather and analyze data requirements, ensuring that data models meet the project's needs.

    Implement and enforce data standards, ensuring consistency and compliance with relevant regulations and security requirements.

    Create comprehensive documentation for data models, including data dictionaries, entity-relationship diagrams, and metadata descriptions to facilitate understanding and usage by project teams.

    Work with data integration teams to ensure seamless data flow between various systems and databases within the project, maintaining data integrity and consistency.

    Implement data quality checks and validation rules within data models to identify and resolve data quality issues proactively.

    Implement and enforce data security measures, including access controls and encryption, to protect sensitive information in accordance with cybersecurity standards.

    Collaborate with data governance teams to define and enforce data governance policies, ensuring data models align with governance requirements.
    Optimize data models for performance and scalability, considering the large datasets and complex queries often encountered in projects.

    Work closely with other data professionals, such as database administrators, data engineers, and data analysts, to ensure that data models align with the broader data architecture and strategy.

    Work closely with the database engineers to create optimal physical data models of datasets, then create and maintain data maps and systems interrelationship diagrams for data domains and systems
    Identify areas where data can be used to improve business activities, defining business users' requirements
    Understanding of data flows and implementing innovative data solutions
    Can define and govern data modeling and design standards, tools, best practices, and related development methodologies for the organization for which they work
    Setting standards for document naming, security, and lifecycle & retention architecture
    Provide recommendations for standardization and proper data usage in business, and communicate the benefits and return on investment for application and product owners

    Desired Skills:


    Proficiency in data modeling tools such as Erwin Data Modeler, IBM Data Architect, or Oracle SQL Developer Data Modeler for creating and maintaining data models.

    Experience with relational database management systems (RDBMS) commonly used in DoD projects, such as Oracle, SQL Server, or PostgreSQL.
    Familiarity with DoD data standards, including the DoD Information Enterprise Architecture (DoD IEA) and the DoD Architecture Framework (DoDAF).
    Strong knowledge of SQL for querying and manipulating data within databases.

    Understanding of data governance and metadata management tools that may be used in DoD projects, such as Collibra or Informatica Axon.

    Knowledge of data security best practices and compliance with DoD cybersecurity standards, including the Risk Management Framework (RMF).
    Understanding of data integration technologies and tools, including ETL processes and data integration platforms.
    Proficiency in implementing data quality checks and ensuring data quality within data models.
    Strong documentation skills for creating clear and comprehensive data model documentation.
    Excellent written and oral communication skills, including strong technical documentation skills
    Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively in dynamic team environment
    Proven track record in demanding, customer service oriented environment
    Ability to communicate clearly with all levels within an organization
    Excellent analytical skills, organizational abilities and problem solving skills
    Strong understanding of business domain, the data requirements, and the data sources
    Identify the key entities, attributes, and relationships that represent the data in a logical and coherent way
    Have conceptual thinking in creating data models that are clear, accurate, and relevant

    Qualifications:
    Must have an Active Secret Clearance
    Must have a Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or other Technical discipline required (Must have Degree)
    A minimum of 10 years equivalent work experience is required
    Prior experience in data modeling, database design, and data architecture, particularly in DoD or government projects, is highly desirable.
    Relevant certifications, such as Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP) or Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), are a plus. – (not needed)
    Skills, experience, and other compensable factors will be considered when determining pay rate.

    The pay range provided in this posting reflects a W2 hourly rate; other employment options may be available that may result in pay outside of the provided range.
