- Work closely with the Dean of Students to establish a positive, structured, and achievement-oriented school culture
- Support implementing positive school investment systems that provide consistent rewards and consequences for student behavior.
- Coordinate and support recognition assemblies, parent workshops, community events, and other culture-building activities
- Support teachers in building relationships with students and parents; implement parental involvement plan in collaboration with School Leadership
- Supervise school entry, breakfast, lunch, transitions, and dismissal to ensure they are orderly and positive
- Support systems to ensure all students have excellent attendance and arrive at school on time
- Ensure that the physical environment (signage, messages, flow of student movement) of the school reinforces school culture and facilitates student achievement
- In coordination with the Operations Team and Grade Level Chairs, ensure effective field trips, school events, and extracurricular activities
- Coordinates, provides and supervises behavioral activities for students.
- Provide critical guidance to Teachers to ensure that all staff comply with and meet students' needs, especially those with special needs.
- Responsible for managing and reducing risk within the classroom with the support of the Lead teacher and seeking assistance when needed to resolve the matter.
- Assist in partnership with the Director of Student Support Services to ensure students with IEPs, 504s, and behavior plans have the support necessary to succeed.
- Perform other duties as outlined by School Leadership.

- Complies with all charter, federal, state, and local laws and regulations, including the NYS Department of Education, Department of Health, and NYS Office of Children and Family Services
- Adheres to organization policies and procedures; promotes and supports mission, vision, and values, including developing and participating in internal surveys and data collection for continuous improvement initiatives.
- Bachelor's degree preferred. High School Diploma/GED required.
- Minimum of 3 years of successful experience in a classroom or equivalent profession dealing with youth (unless matriculating in a higher education teaching program).
- Prior experience working in schools and urban communities is preferred but not required.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule outside of regular business hours.

The Assistant Dean of Students shares responsibility for the school's culture, facilitating student character development and ensuring a positive and structured environment that creates the conditions for accelerated learning.

KIPP Capital Region offers a competitive salary ranging from $42,800 - $47,300.
Salaries are determined using an equitable compensation scale that accounts for years of experience relevant to the role and longevity within the KIPP network. KIPP Capital Region will evaluate and determine the step/level a new hire will be placed within our teacher salary scale at point of hire.
