Description

VisitResponsibilities:
Supervises day-to-day activities of operators to ensure compliance with operational requirements for safe bus operations including compliance with corporate safety training processes and practicesProvides support, advice and guidance to operators in responding to a variety of issues (e.g. customer complaints, bus and/or worker safety, time-off requests), assessing situations and determining appropriate course of action (e.g. additional training, counseling) to prevent further occurrences in the futureEnsures a positive work environment for operators by providing coaching, mentoring and non-safety related training to promote high employee motivation and morale and commitment to company values and excellence in customer serviceMonitors on-time performancePrepares and submits required reports in a timely mannerSupervises compliance with Company policies and/or processes by action and speech; discusses any breech of policy and procedure noted with General ManagerCollects and audits employee DVIsEvaluates the performance of all direct-report personnel on a regular basis according to company policyAdministers appropriate employee discipline as necessaryDirects and monitors daily assignments; schedules drivers and assigns vehicles to ensure daily coverage of all routes.
Ensures direct and indirect daily activities of drivers are assigned and accomplished on-time.
Communicates all relevant details of driving assignments to drivers to ensure proper execution.
Assist drivers with routing directions and directs them to perform special services when required.
Recommends appropriate disciplinary action, up to and including suspensions and/or discharge, for staff violations of company policies.
Responds to emergency calls, facilitates emergency response network, coordinates mechanical service repair, and assigns replacement buses and drivers when there is a problem on a route.
Notifies stakeholders and location personnel of all changes in route assignments, emergency situations, accidents, breakdowns or any other event that will disrupt service.
Maintains route documentation and records (relevant contract requirements, customer information, route changes, relevant maps, vehicle details, bus assignments, driver details) for the purpose of providing accurate and reliable information to customers and complies with district and state requirements.
High School diploma or equivalent; some college preferredCommercial Driver's License (Class A or B), Airbrakes, and Passenger Endorsement requiredPrevious dispatch experience is preferred
5 years of work experience required, with 3 years in transit industry preferred; college education can be substituted for up to 2 years required work experienceKnowledge of the company, service promise, services, capabilities, policies, procedures and practices to effectively manage operators in various locations, resolve issues in accordance with company goals and objectives and promote the company as a leading bus transportation service providerProven supervisory expertise and knowledge of related methods, practices and techniquesComputer literacy, preferably in word processing and spreadsheetsExcellent interpersonal skills, well developed written and verbal communication skillsBasic math skillsRelationship building and maintenance and collaborative skills to provide high-level support and advice to local decision-making customers, foster and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders and work collaboratively to develop strategies/solutions to satisfactorily resolve issuesOral and written communication skills to communicate clearly regarding events and their resolution, provide direction, coaching and mentoring, create an environment that encourages and values input and feedback from the driving workforce, promote the company as a leading edge service provider in TransitWell-developed multi-tasking and time and priority management skills to balance conflicting demands related to customer care and routingKnowledge of surrounding geographic area to ensure effective and efficient routing.
