    Starting Pay: $25.70/ hr.

    Hours: 1st shift

    Job Function:

    The Union Driver role is responsible for operating machinery and to drive a truck up to 58,000 pounds Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) with safety as the priority. This position requires loading and unloading of trucks with attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.

    Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
    • Check vehicles to ensure that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order.
    • Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions, following signals from loading crew and checking that vehicle and loading equipment are properly positioned.
    • Collect delivery instructions from appropriate sources, verifying instructions and routes.
    • Complete Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports daily.
    • Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicles.
    • Secure cargo for transport, using straps, blocks, load bars, etc.
    • Drive trucks through weigh stations to document weights and comply with state regulations.
    • Drive trucks with capacities greater than 3 tons to transport and deliver products or other materials.
    • Obtain receipts or signatures for delivered goods and collect payment for services when required.
    • Operate equipment, such as telephones, to exchange necessary information with bases, supervisors, or other drivers.
    • Perform basic vehicle maintenance tasks, such as adding oil, fuel, or radiator fluid or performing minor repairs.
    • Read and interpret maps to determine the most efficient vehicle routes.
    • Complete Machine Inspection Sheet for Electric Pallet Jack.
    • Load and unload trucks, or help others with loading and unloading, operating any special loading-related equipment on vehicles and using other equipment as necessary.
    • Verify piece counts.
    • Other duties as assigned.

Requires being exact or highly accurate, meeting strict deadlines, includes responsibility for the health and safety of others, requires working in a closed vehicle or equipment, requires working outdoors, exposed to all weather conditions.

    Education and Experience:

    Education: High School/G.E. D

    License, Certificate or Registration: Class B License, D.O.T. Physical
