    Job DescriptionPOSITION SUMMARYThe function of this position is the management of the material process through different departments in order to ensure the right material gets to the right place at the right time.

    This includes working with Production Planning and Control and supporting Manufacturing to ensure proper assessment and resolution of material related shortages.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
    Lead, mentor, be first point of contact among Planners for high level issues.

    Work proactively with Production Planning and Control, Engineering, and Manufacturing to ensure material availability in support of production need dates.

    Support material management in resolution of shortages related to production orders.
    Ensure that material discrepancies are resolved and corrective actions are taken to rectify future issues.
    Work cross functionally on material related process improvement projects to ensure our success.
    Take ownership of material planning issues that arise, including over or under delivery. Responsible to follow up/escalate actions in the event of material shortages that affect production.
    Seek and recommend solutions to overcome issues arising in order to meet production requirements and address operational risks
    Manage inventory risk and ensure that contingency plans are in place
    Ensure that material scheduling strategy and processes are in place and work effectively in order to ensure material supply meets production requirements with minimum stick levels, whilst optimizing costs
    Carry out oversight of entire material timeline from Engineering to Production
    Be prepared to carry out supplier visits to timely material deliveries
    Tenacious commitment to continuous improvement

    to provide status and elevate key issues; weekly

    The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet. When entering the shipyard, the work environment is not climate-controlled and there is exposure to moving equipment, etc.

    RequirementsQUALIFICATIONSTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.     EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
    Bachelor's degree in a business or technical related field and at least 2 years' experience in supply chain or compliance environment; or

    This can also be met with an Associate's degree and at least 3 years' experience in supply chain or compliance environment; or a HS Diploma and at least 5 years' experience in supply chain or compliance environment.

    Must be proficient in Microsoft Office products, especially Excel and Word.
    Experience with MRP/ERP systems.
    Fundamental knowledge of shipbuilding workflow and production processes is preferred
    Fundamental knowledge of shipyard material management processes is preferred
    Basic working knowledge of, and experience with, production planning practices


    SKILLS:
    Fundamentally understand work area processes and constraints

    Understanding of process improvement fundamentals
    Good math skills
    Ability and willingness to work in both office and heavy industrial environments
    Must have strong Microsoft Office Suites computer skills with emphasis on EXCEL WORD
