- Takes patient histories and performs examinations of patients.
- Educates patient in oral and dental hygiene.
- Assesses the clinical status of patients.
- Formulates problem lists based on clinical findings and prepares treatment plan and estimates.
- Recommends and/or administers treatment or medications in accordance with standards of care adopted by the California State Board of Dental Examiners and policies of ODCHC.
- Provides and evaluates patient care according to standard of care and Quality Improvement program criteria.
- Teaches patients, families and staff about dental care, prevention, and treatment enhancement techniques.
- Prepares and maintains a wide variety of records, forms and reports.
- Accurately and legible records patient history, exam notes, medication history, on-going care and referrals in dental record, according to established format.
- Attends and participates in meetings, Quality Improvement and peer review activities as required.
- Participated in processes to receive, resolve and respond to patient or co-worker complaints and works toward a positive resolution of any dispute.
- Serves as member of site committees as requested.
- Identifies problems related to patient services and makes recommendations for improvement.
- Participates in supervision, training and evaluation of support staff.
- Demonstrates commitment to Open Door's mission.
- Adherence to ODCHC's attendance policy.
- Other duties and responsibilities as designated by supervisor.
- Ability to work as a member of a team in order to solicit input from other affected departments or individuals, communicate pertinent information to other team members, and support team decisions.

- Ability to read, analyzes, and interprets general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to effectively represent ODCHC's interests in the community and maintain effective working relationships among co-workers, public, private, and professional groups.
- Basic computer skills in Windows environment, including email, internet, word processing and basic database usage
- Dental School Diploma.
- Ongoing continuing education appropriate to the Open Door dental practice.
- Current California dental license.
- Dental Assistants and Registered Dental Assistants.
- Responsible for day to day clinical supervision and training of the above staff.
- Participates in recruitment, retention, evaluation and disciplinary processes for the above staff.
- Speaking and hearing sufficient to communicate effectively by phone or in person, at normal volumes.
- Vision adequate to read correspondence, computer screen, forms, etc.
- Good manual dexterity.
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
