The work we do here at Metro has a positive impact on people's lives both today and in the future. We are currently looking for a Senior Environmental Compliance Specialist to join our team.

    At Metro, we oversee the region's garbage and recycling system, partnering with local communities, government, and industry to protect the environment, conserve resources, and ensure a sustainable waste management system for all.

    In this role, you will be responsible for managing environmental compliance activities at our facilities, including transfer stations, hazardous waste operations, and more. Your duties will include ensuring regulatory permits are in place, conducting monitoring and reporting, providing compliance training, and responding to environmental incidents.

    As the Senior Environmental Compliance Specialist, you will:
    • Acquire, manage, and maintain all regulatory compliance and operational permits
    • Support operations to ensure compliance with regulatory permits
    • Perform environmental compliance observations, monitoring, and reporting
    • Provide pollution prevention plan and compliance-related training
    • Offer compliance support for construction projects
    • Respond to spills and environmental incidents

    We are looking for individuals who are passionate about the environment, enjoy problem-solving, have excellent computer skills, and can effectively communicate with various teams. You should also have a strong understanding of environmental regulations and be able to identify compliance deficiencies.

    To qualify for this position, you should have a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science or related field, along with 3 years of experience in environmental compliance. Possession of a valid driver's license is also required.

    The compensation for this position ranges from $86,860.80 to $116,417.60, depending on qualifications. This is a non-overtime position represented by AFSCME 3580.
