    We are looking for a Staff / Senior Accountant to join our team

    Role Description

    This is a full-time role for a Senior Accountant in Columbia, MD. As a Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for your dedicated assigned client's tax compliance, tax preparation, financial statements, accounting, payroll, and other related tasks. Preparation and review of Financial Statements, perform month-end and quarterly closing, process payroll, etc. Attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities with a deadline will contribute to your success in this role.

    Essential Duties & Responsibilities

    • Perform general accounting/bookkeeping functions for clients
    • Prepare and review financial statements, perform month-end and quarterly closing, and prepare financial statements of assigned clients (e.g., balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements)
    • Assist in business (1120S, 1120, 1065) and individual federal and state tax returns review and preparation.
    • Analyzing and reconciling general ledger accounts in conjunction with preparing financial statements for clients.
    • Performing basic accounting procedures, e.g. A/R, A/P, time billing, P/R, G/L, tax payments.
    • Processing payroll using different platforms such as ADP, Paychecks, and Intuit.
    • Perform Payroll, Sales tax, and related compliance for assigned clients.
    • Ensure that clients comply with periodic tax payments, information reporting and other taxing authority requirements.
    • Develop knowledge, understanding, and compliance with all applicable US GAAP accounting rules and standards relating to job duties.
    • Perform special projects and other duties as assigned by management.
    • Assist with other strategic or operational firm initiatives.
    • Any other duties or tasks assigned from time to time.

    Qualifications

    • 3 to 5 years of progressive accounting experience in public accounting or similar work environment
    • Experience in working with financial statements
    • Tax Preparation skills
    • A strong understanding of tax regulations and laws is a plus
    • Experience with QuickBooks desktop and online
    • Experience with UltraTax software is a plus
    • Knowledge of accounting principles and practices
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
    • Attention to detail and accuracy in work
    • Strong organizational and time management skills
    • Effective written and verbal communication skills
    • Must be a team player, willing to work with/assist other members of the firm
    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
    • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is preferred but not required
    • Analytical skills with particular attention to detail
