We have partnered with Erickson Electric to recruit an Estimator in St. Cloud, Minnesota.
I. Job Summary:
This position is responsible for the primary Estimating functions; submitting identified number of bids that meet and/or exceed company revenue & profitability goals with an emphasis on delivering desired internal and external outcomes. The Estimator will lead the bidding process with accurate costing, clear communication, and will follow company policies and procedures with a goal of seamless and updated deliverables for both customers and staff.The Estimator will strive to provide the documented details and service that leads to a high-quality experience at a competitive & profitable price. Through best practice technology use, documentation, communication, and collaboration between departments, the PM will apply their expertise to contribute to operational excellence throughout the organization.
II. Accountabilities: Lists the major functions of this job.
Manages, and oversees all activities related to accurate and timely estimates that meet and exceed Industry and company standards.
Meets performance standards as set forth for Estimators re: Quantity of Bids, Bid Package Standards, Profitability Goals and Erickson Electric Quality Standards.
Maintains accurate and complete estimating documentation to provide seamless continuity for team.Follows clearly defined processes and communicates via communication tools, as defined.
Completes assigned bid opportunities, submittals, closing of jobs accurately and on-time to meet/exceed bidding/profitability targets.
Always has an eye towards continuous improvement, efficiency, technology enhancements and streamlining our processes.
Build and maintain strong GC and Community ties to promote EE and our services.
Follow our proven bid process: Before Bid Date: Each Bid file will contain: Completed Bid, McCormick format Proposal, 3 material estimates, completed Foundation Bid data.
Won Bids will be entered into Foundation (ERP) within 48 hrs of bid award. Material purchase timeline will be determined upon successful award of contract along with other pre-start details.
15% of Material Cost must be prefab purchased for each awarded bid. Material purchases over identified dollar amount, will be presented, at least, to 2 vendors.
Develop and master strong bidding, estimating and collaboration with Operations & Project Management team using company designated software that meets company standards.
Serves as a resource to customers, vendors, and field & office staff to answer questions in a collaborative and prompt manner.
Update software re: project updates/inventory pricing/item assemblies/pertinent details to maintain accurate systems.
Attends bid review & project update meetings. Provides weekly updates on bids and project performance to ensure accurate forecasts, billing and profitability.
Active member of the Erickson Electric team promoting positive outcomes, proactive solutions and regular communication exchanges with colleagues at all levels of the organization to support operational planning processes and outcomes.
Interfaces with internal team and Supply Chain stakeholders concerning topics / issues involving Bill of Materials and equipment.
Helps collaborate, coach and train the internal team, when called upon, sharing process expertise, best practices and mentoring.
Communicate re: estimating challenges combined with proactive solutions.
Complies with environmental, health & safety policies, procedures and reports any Environmental, Health & Safety hazards, incidents, and concerns to upper management.
Helps ensure estimating supplies are maintained and costs are managed.
Answer Phones as needed.
Other duties as assigned.
III. Job Requirements: List the specific skills, knowledge and abilities that are required to perform this job. This must include experience, education and training.
5+ years in an Electrical environment.
5+ years' experience in estimating or project management preferred.
Strong knowledge of Electrical Code(s) and direct industry experience preferred.
Familiarity with warehouse management procedures and Inventory Control
Proficient in Electrical scheduling
Familiarity with Microsoft Office products including: Word, Excel, Outlook, Bidding and Electrical Estimating and/or Project Management Software
Exceptional customer service skills
Time management skills required
Organizational skills required
Problem-solving and root cause analysis skills required
Strong Financial Management Skills
Strategic planning skills required
Ability to lift 25-50 pounds is required
Some travel may be required
Ability to work extended hours – both weekends and evenings as needed
