An exciting graduate level opportunity to support critical function of Modeling Section within Water Resources and Systems Modeling (WRSM) Bureau. Candidates will gain hands on experience in developing data-driven hydrologic models with Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AI/ML) techniques and their applications for routine operational planning and real-time (emergency) situations, while gaining familiarity with the vast water infrastructure and complex water management in South Florida. Position involves Python programming (primarily - using/modifying existing scripts) to mine, organize, and QA/QC hydrologic data, as well as in AI/ML model development and evaluations for various watersheds and regions within SFWMD. Relevant coursework and/or research experience in hydrology, modeling, and AL/ML is highly preferred. Experience/familiarity with R, C++, other scripting languages, and Linux will be beneficial.
Education/Experience Guide:
Achieved classification as a college level graduate in a related degree program (Civil/Environmental/Agricultural/Mechanical/Computer Engineering or Science) at a college or university accredited by a recognized national or regional accreditation association. Must have coursework relevant to the position being accepted and no experience is required. The student must have a 3.0 average or higher and maintain an average grade of B or above in all major fields of study.
Graduate and Doctoral level interns will be paid $19/hour and work a maximum of 32 hours per week for a maximum internship duration of 4 months.
