- Responsible for the organization of design/production related files.
- Responsible for verifying the accuracy of drawings and compatibility of work across disciplines.
- Assists the engineer in outlining objectives, requirements and design approaches.
- Attends project and pre-construction meetings and provides input to ensure proper policies, procedures, and specifications are followed. Prepares electronic files for use in meetings and facilitates their display.
- Calculates quantities and performs engineering related computations.
- Provides training and mentoring to earlier career technicians.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Associate of Science in Drafting or Technical School or related and 5 years of relevant experience, or
- In lieu education, 7 years of relevant experience
- Advanced knowledge in the terminology and symbols used in survey notes, plans, shop drawings, aerial photographs, and maps related to a specific Engineering sub-type
- Experience drafting plans for structural steel and reinforced concrete
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and self-produce a significant portion structural drawings
- Experience in both Microstation and AutoCAD/Revit
- 7- 10 years experience in drafting of structural plans, particularly for local public transit and transportation agencies
