    Paraprofessional Certification Information
    All Georgia paraprofessionals must hold a valid Paraprofessional Educator certificate issued by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC).

    * Paraprofessional Certification can be completed within the first 30 days of employment.

    Applicants for paraprofessional positions must hold at least a high school diploma or GED equivalent and satisfy all other federal hiring requirements appropriate to designated positions prior to being considered for employment in Chattahoochee County Public Schools.
    Paraprofessionals hired after January 8, 2002, shall meet one of the following requirements:

    Completion of at least two years (60 semester/90 quarter hours) of study at an institution of higher education (regionally-accredited);

    __ or __
    Obtained an associate's or higher degree;

    __ or __

    Have passed the Georgia Paraprofessional Assessment (no longer available or the Praxis Paraprofessional Assessment (prior to 9/1/2006) or the GACE Paraprofessional Assessment.

    If you have completed 60 semester/90 quarter hours of higher education, you must send a copy of your college transcript to document that you have met this requirement.

    If you do not have the requisite hours, you will need to provide documentation that you have passed the state assessment.

    You will also need to provide documentation of your high school diploma or GED (transcripts are also acceptable).

    Information on registration deadlines and locations can be obtained at the GACE website or by going to the Columbus State University Testing Center for more details and to register for the test.

    Also required are filing skills, computer skills and classroom management and any other duties and responsibilities assigned by the supervisor.
