    • Cheltenham Youth Detention Centerr11003 Frank Tippet RoadrCheltenham, MD 21234rrrrrrrrPOSITION DUTIESThis is a nursing leadership position responsible for:r Serving as lead resource and for the administration and evaluation of nursing practice and the environment of care.
    This includes supervision, consultation, and education of the nursing staff.r Assuring operational efficiency and consistency in health care services are implemented and delivered according to DJS policy, DJS Health Services Operational procedures, DJS Nursing Protocols and DJS Standards of Conduct at the assigned facilities.r Providing indirect supervision of the assigned medical units; responsible for ensuring compliance with state laws and regulations regarding the practice of nursing and the operational policies and procedures of DJS.r The 24-hour operation, management, and clinical nursing care at one (1) or more facilities.

    May also have central administrative duties for generic programs.r Controlling and evaluating the fiscal, environmental and quality operations in the assigned facilities.


    rrMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSEducation:
    A Bachelor's degree in Nursing or a health-related field from an accredited college or university

    rExperience:
    Four years of experience as a Registered Nurse to include two years in the Medical optionand one year in a supervisory, administrative or consultative capacity


    rNotes:
    r1.

    Candidates may substitute the possession a Master's degree in Nursing or a health-related field from an accredited college or university and two years of experience as a Registered Nurse in the Medical option for the required education and experience.

    r2.

    Candidates may substitute six years of experience as a Registered Nurse to include three years in a supervisory, administrative or teaching capacity in the Medical option for the required education and experience requirements.

    r3. Candidates may substitute U.S.

    Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Nursing classifications or Nursing and Hospital Administration specialty codes in the Nursing field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience and education.rSELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONSThe selected candidate must have access to their own transportation to and from jobrsites.

    Standard mileage allowance will be paid for use of a privately ownedrvehicle.rDESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSrrOne year of work experiencercoordinating and supervising across multiple secure residential juvenilerfacilities/settings is preferred.rrLICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS1.

    Candidates for positions in this classification must possess a current license as a Registered Nurse from the Maryland State Board of Nursing, 4140 Patterson Avenue, Baltimore, Maryland 21215 or possess a current multi-state license in party states that candidates have declared as primary states of residence.

    r2. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of an automobile.

    Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
