    Position Summary

    / Career Interest:The Physician Documentation Assistant (PDA) provides clerical support to the staff physicians, with specific goals of improving throughput for all patients. The primary role of the PDA will be to work along-side the physician and transcribe all appropriate physician documentation and order entry based on the physician's instructions, in addition to other clerical duties. This assistance is under the direct oversight and control of the staff physician and the Nurse Manager/Manager.

    Responsibilities:

  • Models professional practice through collaboration with staff, leadership, patients, families and physicians.
  • Interacts in a positive, professional manner with evidence of conflict resolution skills
  • Documents physician assessment accurately, timely, and without subjectivity.
  • Completes order entry as directed in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Documents any procedures completed by the physician
  • Knowledge of common medical terms and familiarity with medical language
  • Demonstrates exceptional interpersonal skills and an ability to work well with co-workers, patients, family, and guests
  • Reviews all assigned patients for updated testing results and promptly reports them to the assigned physician.
  • *Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.

    JOB REQUIREMENTS

    Required:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Active BLS Certification
  • Training or Degree in Medical Terminology or previous exposure to medical terminology
  • Strong organizational skills, excellent communication skills, prioritization skills, the ability to work well under stress and the ability to think critically and problem solve
  • Proficient using a computer, specifically Microsoft Office programs and data entry systems
  • Preferred

  • 6 months previous patient care experience or student in Nursing Allied Health or Medicine and completion of medical terminology class in Medical Assistance Program
