    Kris An Charles Investments Co. Ltd. has been Jamaica's premier micro finance company since 1992 and operates twelve branches island-wide. We are recruiting a highly competent, fully qualified, senior-level professional Accountant for the position of Financial Controller.


    The Financial Controller is a dynamic and capable leader who is responsible for directing and overseeing the finance and accounting activities of the Company and all related companies.

    The Financial Controller is responsible for all internal and external financial reporting including monthly and quarterly financials, regulatory reporting and statutory compliance including tax returns.

    They provide accurate and timely, professional financial reports, analyses, budgets and forecasts and have sound knowledge of IFRS and experience in the preparation of IFRS-compliant financial statements.


    The incumbent is responsible for effective liquidity management and supports strategic planning and the achievement of strategic objectives by providing relevant insightful analyses, opinions and recommendations to Executives and the Board of Directors.

    They must possess a sound understanding of the economic and investment environment and be conversant with a broad range of business issues in order to make recommendations for improving the Company's financial performance.

    Qualifications & Experience Required

    Five (5) years' experience in a Finance/Accounting role at a managerial level in a medium to large organization, with at least three (3) years post-qualification experience
    Masters Degree in Business Administration is an advantage
    Strong knowledge of accounting software, data analysis software and Microsoft Office suite of applications

    Key Responsibilities

    Prepares monthly and quarterly management accounts/financial statements and reports for meetings of the Board of Directors within established deadlines
    Prepares IFRS-compliant annual financial statements and oversees external audit to ensure completion within Company and statutory deadlines

    Prepares and files all tax returns and ensures payment of taxes within statutory deadlines

    Ensures that up-to-date accounting and financial reporting policies and procedures are in place and monitors compliance with these policies and procedures

    Ensures any other required internal controls are in place for mitigation of financial statement misstatement risk due to fraud and error and for protection of the Company's assets

    Coordinates and leads the annual budget exercise and ensures approval within the established deadline

    Performs variance analyses of performance against budget and implements or recommends solutions to address negative variances

    Prepares and files Bank of Jamaica and other regulatory and statutory reports within the required deadlines

    Ensures that mechanisms are in place to manage the Company's day-to-day liquidity needs and that excess funds are appropriately invested
