    Description

    Seeking Childwatch Lead Staff. Childwatch Staff minimum requirement 21 years of age or older. Minimum requirements include, 2 years' experience working with kids (0-12years), experience in a supervisory role, organizational skills, dedication, ability to communicate with children and adults, safety oriented, energetic personality, team player attitude, who is creative, fun and loves children.

    Childwatch hours of operation include weekday morning and evening shifts and Saturday morning shifts. Lead position requires flexibility to cover for all possible shifts.

    POSITION SUMMARY: Provides direct leadership for all facets of the Childwatch program. Provides a quality experience to children, families and support staff that focuses on the YMCA values: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    1. Maintain friendly, positive and professional relationships with children, parents and YMCA staff. Project a positive image of the YMCA and the Childwatch program.
    2. Recruits, hires, trains, develops, evaluates and schedules Childwatch staff.
    3. Designs, plans and implements Childwatch program curriculum.
    4. Supervises the staff, children, program space, and all activities and maintains constant visual contact with all assigned children.
    5. Handles and resolves Childwatch concerns and informs supervisor of unusual situations or unresolved issues.
    6. Assist with annual Strong Communities Campaign and meets departmental fundraising targets.
    7. Maintains program space and equipment in a neat and organized manner, responsible for daily and weekly cleaning of Childwatch spaces, equipment and follows all safety procedures.
    8. Attends and participates in family specialty programming, staff meetings, and staff trainings.
    9. To promote the physical, intellectual, social, cultural and emotional well-being of the children.
    10. Build enthusiasm for staff team, daily activities and all YMCA programs.
    11. Complete required documentation regarding staff scheduling, attendance, health and wellness, sign-in and sign-out, accident/incident reports and other items as assigned.
    12. Follow all YMCA child care policies, regulations and procedures.
    13. Follow all YMCA work rules and employee handbook expectations for employment.
    14. Assist in program and YMCA membership cross promotion and special events.
    15. Carry out tasks as assigned by the Director of Membership Operations.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    1. At least 21 years of age to work as the Childwatch Lead.
    2. High School diploma or GED required. Additional educational requirements preferred.
    3. 2 years' experience working with kids (0-12years)
    4. CPR, First Aid, AED certifications required within 30 days of hire.
    5. New Employee Orientation and Child Abuse prevention training prior to start of employment.
    6. Ability to plan, organize and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities.
    7. Previous experience with diverse populations. Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds.
    8. Experience in a supervisory role.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    Ability to plan, lead and participate in activities. Vision, hearing, speech and movement abilities in order to provide safe supervision of children at all times, ability to lift up to 30lbs unassisted.
