Description

ForeFlight is looking for an Engineering Manager to lead our Custom Content and Military Aviation Dispatch team. This position is for a technically well-rounded individual with experience building and supporting full stack web applications.

This is a technical management role, with responsibility for high level technical direction for a team, as well as people and process management of that team.

Daily code contributions will be limited in this role, but a strong grasp of the technology is important.

This person has a technical background in software engineering and a track record of building and leading a team of engineers and testers.

This person will work closely with the product team to define a roadmap for the team, collaborate with other teams and departments to execute projects, and will take responsibility for developer experience and the health of the codebase by identifying and advocating for necessary improvements.

This position is based in any of our three offices, and remote options are available. A pilot-coder, or individual looking to pursue their private pilot license, is a plus. Benefits include medical insurance, 401(k) with matching, and flight training reimbursement.

Technologies And Skills

8+ years of experience in software engineering
2+ years of experience as a people manager for a remote, distributed team
Experience leading project execution across multiple teams
Technical background in Java, C# .Net or other server technologies
Experience with web frameworks such as React and Angular
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Aviation industry experience is a plus
