    RESPONSIBILITIESTrack all tooling builds as well as Continuous Improvement of existing programs at the client's facilities.
    Willingness to travel to the different client facilities and tooling vendors.
    Travel is approx. 50% of the time and is based upon launch activities.

    Quoting of potential program toolingReview new castings RFQ for feasibilityWork with the simulations engineer (or provider) on establishing and optimizing gating/overflow/venting concept to meet customer requirements.

    List size of equipment needed, cycle times to create the productList all potential issues that will inhibit creating of the castings with equipment available.

    List all items that can be modified with the product to enhance the creation of the product.
    List all equipment (capital) that may be needed to create the product.

    Die Cast tooling buildsCreate a supply base matrix for all tooling builds (die cast dies and trim dies) with qualified tooling vendors that comply with the latest technology and are a fit for the tooling needed.

    Send out request for quote to the tooling vendors selected with a full scope of what is needed, referencing the approved Tooling StandardsCompile the quotes received, create a matrix for proper selection purposesInsure a "kick-off" meeting takes place with the approved tooling vendor and plant where the product is placedUsing the Gate release system for all tooling builds, lead the builds, insuring that flow simulations are used to predict the failures and engineer them out of processing.

    Lessons learned obtained by the APQP system to insure the best information is relayed to the tool build.
    Perform weekly APQP meeting with required personnel for the tooling builds.

    Attend the Tooling reviews at the Tooling Vendors to ensure that proper build procurement is completeEnsure that all Tooling Documentation is provided to the plant engineering personnel for tooling Maintenance using the 23-point folder system.

    Attend all tooling run offs either at the plant or at the tooling vendor location, insure that all process trials are documented and shared.

    Tooling Run off and PAPPCorporate Tooling Engineering is the owner of the tooling and process until the die is PPAP'd by the plant.

    All tooling runs, die corrections, post sample meetings and associated tasks are governed by Corporate Tooling Engineering.
    REQUIREMENTSBachelors in Mechanical Engineering OR 15 years of experience in High-Pressure Die Casting (HPDC) Tooling EngineeringManagerial experience over Tooling Engineering (die cast tooling, die casting process)Project Management Experience3D Modeling experience + 2D drafting experience
    • Preferred.
    Must be able to review models in 3D as well as 2DUnderstanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing
    • GD&TUnderstanding and interpreting of casting simulation results.
