    Job Title: Field Data Collector

    NORC at the University of Chicago is an objective, nonpartisan research organization that delivers insights and analysis decision-makers trust.

    As a Field Data Collector, you will play a significant role in collecting data that drives our research.

    • Available to work a flexible, part-time schedule (4-6 hours/day)
    • Self-starter who can manage, organize, and commit to their own work schedule
    • Enjoys meeting new people from diverse backgrounds and professions
    • Has field interviewing, sales, hospitality, marketing, financial, real estate, tax preparation, teaching, or customer service experience

    Requirements For Employment:

    • Must be at least 18 years of age
    • High School Diploma or GED Preferred
    • Willing to work a flexible schedule of 15 – 25 hours per week
    • Comfortable contacting people in person at their homes, often without notice
    • Valid driver's license, automobile insurance, and access to reliable transportation
    • Willings to drive 50 miles or more round trip to complete required task
    • Reside within 100 miles of the location displayed in this job posting
    • Ability to use a NORC-provided tablet and applications for tasks such as sending emails and capturing notes about work completed
    • Attend all virtual and in-person training sessions
    • Travel for 3-day in-person training sessions located in Greater Chicago, NYC, or the Los Angeles area
    • Provide evidence of identity and authorization to work in the United States (I-9 documentation)
    • Eligible to work in the U.S. We regret that we are unable to offer visa sponsorship for this position

    Salary And Benefits:

    This position is classified as intermittent. The pay range for this position will be $19.00 – $28.41 per hour, based on experience and geographic location.

    • Field Interviewers working on the 2025 SCF project are eligible to earn an additional $50 - $100 biweekly if required training and performance standards are met and maintained
    • NORC will contribute to an individually owned, fully vested retirement account with TIAA at a rate of $4.93 for each hour worked, and contributions will be made on a quarterly basis
    • Intermittent staff are eligible to make pre-tax or post-tax contributions as part of NORC's Supplemental Retirement Plan
    • The pay range for field interviewers in New York is $19.00-$31.42 per hour. The starting rate for field interviewers in New York is $19.00/hour
    • NORC will provide compensation for: training hours, mileage reimbursement, and other approved expenses

    • Much of the work needed for this project is completed from March to June 2025. All field interviewers wishing to continue working on this project to its anticipated end of December 2025 must complete additional training.
