    Responsibilities:

    The Surgical Technician ensures the Operating Suite is adequately prepared for procedure by preparing instrumentation and equipment. Assists surgeon by passing instruments during operative and invasive procedures. Maintains sterile technique at all times. Demonstrates the ability to clean and sterilize all surgical instruments. Actively participates in all performance improvement activities and team meetings.

    Qualifications:

    EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

    • Education and Work Experience:
      • Must possess a high school diploma or GED
      • Graduation from a Surgical Technology Program

    SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS

    • Certification Requirements:
      • Certificate from Surgical Technologist Program or 1 year experience documented
      • CPR Healthcare Provider required
    • Other Requirements:
      • Must possess skills in scrub role in Operating Room
      • Works in well-lighted and ventilated area(s), as well as throughout the nursing service areas.
      • Sits, stands, bends, lifts, and moves intermittently during working hours.
      • Is subject to frequent interruptions.
      • Willingly works beyond normal working hours, and weekends and holidays on a rotational basis.
      • Attends and participates in continuing education programs.
      • Is subject to exposure to infectious waste, disease processes, including exposure to HIV and Hepatitis B viruses.
      • Participates in taking "on-call" to cover surgical operating room. Must be able to respond to this call and be available in OR within one hour of the call.
