General Summary:
The Senior Commercial Lender position is a key role in the Lending division.
Responsibilities include managing a portfolio of commercial relationships, underwriting commercial credit (commercial real estate and C&I), preparing commercial loan memos, and maintaining an appropriate level of credit and interest rate risk in the portfolio.
The Senior Commercial Lender must have an interest in sales and be comfortable with outside selling of bank products and services, with meeting current and prospective bank customers, and with establishing the appropriate bank relationship to satisfactorily service the customer's needs.
The lender must have knowledge of financial statement analysis and collateral evaluation, and must have a thorough understanding and ability to properly underwrite a variety of commercial loan requests, including operating loans, equipment loans, term real estate loans, and real estate construction loans.
The position will have goals established for portfolio growth and management, fee income, and new relationships brought in.Essential Job Functions:
Works with analysts to prepares credit application memorandums, including narrative comments of cash flow and collateral analysis, in preparation for the underwriting of commercial loan requests.
Maintains an acceptable interest-rate risk within the loan portfolio.
Assists borrowers with credit questions concerning their accounts and with the renewing of existing credits. Makes collection calls as necessary to maintain an acceptable portfolio.
Assists other lenders with credit relationships.
Cooperates with and assists, when necessary, Loan Administrative Assistants and Loan Operations Staff regarding loan documentation for new and renewed loans, as well as follow-up support documentation for booked credits.
Attends staff meetings as necessary, including past due/watchlist meetings, and employee training and compliance meetings.
Ensures the Bank's compliance with banking regulations and maintains awareness of changing rules and regulations affecting the Bank.
Skills Required
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Seven to ten years commercial and consumer credit underwriting experience.
Strong relationship building skills.
Strong organization skills.
Must have knowledge of all applicable bank regulations and compliance
Technology skills in Microsoft Office and other bank software and applications.
Must have critical thinking skills to solve issues and make sound recommendations.
Must be able to collaborate and work with others.
Mortgage Originator's License (MLO) required.
