    Johnson Outdoors Marine Electronics announces a NEW position of a Site Server System Administrator, Sr. in Alpharetta, GA.

    This position will provide intermediate level technical administration and support for a variety of operating systems, applications systems, servers and related technologies, and monitor the performance, resources and security of the servers managed and related systems.


    The Site Server/System Administrator will be responsible for:


    Deploying, maintaining and operating anti-virus and security patch deployment technology for Linux Servers in accordance with JOI guidelines and will perform in-depth analysis on patch requirements and develops action plans for execution of patching updates that will remediate vulnerabilities as expected.


    In addition, this position will be responsible for:

    • Performing design, development and administration (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu) of Linux-based server/infrastructure.
    • Providing operational support for file systems and mount tables.
    • Providing group and account maintenance, security configurations, and system configurations.
    • Performing tuning of the hardware, virtual environments, and operating systems (kernel parameters) as required for application installation or operations.
    • Creating and updating documentation (support, administration, user-procedures, quick reference guides), and provides end-user training.
    • Performing daily server monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups. Performs regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions. Performs in-depth analysis of servers to efficiently identify and troubleshoot server issues.
    • Performing hardware, operating system and software installation, configuration and technical support to ensure all systems are operating efficiently and conforming to best business practices for security, availability and administrative support. Works with end-users to proactively identify needs, troubleshoot system/network/equipment issues and perform upgrades/changes.
    • Maintaining desktop computers, laptops and network related hardware and software which includes setup, new user account creation, simple to complex installations and troubleshooting issues. Ensures optimum performance and connectivity.
    • Performing development, design and analysis of applications and multiple systems for a broad group of users across various disciplines.
    • Conducting needs analysis, requirements definition and generate solution recommendations in preparation for application development of productivity enhancement tools to be used across the organization.
    • Assisting project teams with technical issues in the project planning phases, which includes defining needs, benefits, technical strategies and technical analysis/design. Supports operations staff in executing, testing and rolling-out solutions.
    The individual will possess a variety of technical skills and knowledge, specifically:

    • Strong technical proficiency in Microsoft Operating Systems, Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Active Directory, LAN/WAN operations, and other applications.
    • Strong knowledge of Windows and Linux server installation, administration, implementation and support. Ability to write and maintain Linux shell scripts, configs, and packages.
    • Intermediate skills in .Net application programming with proficiency in VB.NET and C#.
    • Intermediate skills in common scripting environments such as Perl, WMI, ADSI, Power Shell, Bourne Shell and batch commands.
    • Intermediate knowledge of LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP) web server technologies.
    • Intermediate knowledge of VMware on both Windows and Linux environments.
    • Intermediate skills in Bugzilla and Perforce administration; both GUI and Linux command line.
    • Strong Directory Services Administration (Active Directory, LDAP, ADAM).
    • Strong knowledge of network concepts, terminology, and technologies.
    • Intermediate skills in MySQL/SQL databases.
    • Strong interpersonal, communication, organizational and customer service skills. Ability to effectively communicate with end users and department leaders to identify and troubleshoot IT needs and issues. Ability to translate complex technical issues into simple terms. Must work well in both groups and independently.
    • Strong attention to detail with the ability to multi-task and prioritize work for maximum efficiency in an environment with minimal supervision.

    Bachelors or better in Computer Science or related field.

    Experience

    Required

    5 years: Requires a minimum of 5 years of experience providing technical server administration for Windows and Linux, application systems, and technical equipment and performing end-user support and training.
