    The position (K

    The Kansas Department of Health and Environment has an Environmental Data Program Manager opening in Topeka. This position works to develop, improve, and implement forms, document templates, workflows, and other items critical to utilize an electronic database management system for environmental data. Works with prior environmental datasets to ensure proper conversion and transfer of information is complete. Leads or assists in development of standard operating procedures, guidance, and other documentation to ensure adequate understanding and implementation of programs within an electronic database management system. Develop data and report extraction procedures and processes. Assists with third-party and program staff in identifying functionality requirements, issues, and steps to resolve.

    Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:

    Develop, implement, and manage complex database software training program for staff and external users of an online database management system. Work with environmental programs to provide outreach and training opportunities and obtain feedback on online processes. Work with supervisor, staff, and external users to troubleshoot issues and problems related to functionality and misunderstanding of processes to ensure program success in implementing online database management system.

    Serve as a part of the quality improvement community within the bureau and department. Gather data, study processes, identify problems, and utilize technological and analytics tools to formulate and present solutions for an improved process.

    Qualifications

  • Education : Bachelor's degree in information systems technology, computer science, environmental science, natural science, public administration or another relative field. Experience in relevant areas may be substituted as determined relevant by the agency.
  • Licensing & Certification: Valid Driver's License - Incumbent is required to have and maintain a valid driver's license when operating a state vehicle, a private vehicle, or a rental vehicle for the benefit of the State.
  • Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in information systems technology, computer science, environmental science, natural science, public administration or another relative field. Experience in relevant areas may be substituted as determined relevant by the agency. At least one year of experience in planning, organizing, or analyzing the work of a department, program, or agency.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Experience and understanding of an environmental program, their environmental data, and an ability to work with large data sets, statistical software and tools, and information technology processes. Knowledge or understanding of quality improvement, process improvement, and total quality management. Experience developing and implementing procedures or training, especially data management systems. Education or experience in data analysis, database development, or similar. Experience managing projects, grants, or contracts. Quality (Process) Improvement. Proofreading, editing, attention to detail. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access.
