    Description

    Under the direction of the manager, this job supports the accounting, reporting, audit and financial controls for the department, while assisting the manager in fulfilling fiduciary duties related to the profitability and soundness of the business. Assists in business unit's compliance with applicable laws, regulations, regulatory requirements and Bank policies and procedures, including but not limited to those related to Fair Banking, Anti-Money Laundering laws and regulations, Bank Secrecy Act and USA PATRIOT Act.

    Assists in the collection and preparation of departments reporting such as Quarterly Performance Reports (QPR), compensation packages and payouts, and other financial reporting. Assists the sales, service, and support teams with exception pricing models and focusing on profitability. Updates and maintains the divisions pricing model. Provides support to Semi-annual Industry Card Brand Releases and their financial impact to the bank and its merchants.

    Assists manager in department workflow and reporting automation. Collaborates with the IT department to facilitate the development and maintenance of the department's databases. Constructs SQL queries to satisfy various operation, compliance or internal control requirements. Works with IT on scheduling, establishing and maintaining automated workflow. Leverages SQL and Python for data analytic or workflow automation.

    Provides support to the daily operations and workflow of the department's accounting and reporting to ensure the accurate and timely preparation of operational, performance and Regulatory/Association reports for the department. Supports the preparation of a strategic development and marketing plan to monitor sales/retention efforts and goals which includes unit and individual goals. Creates reports to measure and forecast sales/retention plan results. Provides reporting to track vendor and card brand performances.

    Assists manager in the strategic planning process by providing and analyzing financial, departmental, and industry data. This may include historical as well as pro forma analyses.

    Assists manager in preparing the department's Capital and Operating budgets. Analyzes and conducts research to prepare budget variance responses and to assist manager in preparing periodic financial performance reports for upper management, such as the QPR and Open and Closed reports.

    Collaborates with the Controllers department and periodically evaluates the daily operations and workflow, ensuring that all transactions were conducted accurately and that cash and general ledger accounts reconcile with external funding and settlement reports in a timely manner. Completes and reports monthly budget analysis and reporting variances to manager.

    Supports the financial activities of the department's audits. Assists manager in working with auditors to provide requested information, including department policies, procedures, industry regulations, etc. Facilitates audit activities and communicates findings to manager and coordinates responses to citations, corrective measures and procedures to avoid repeat citations.

    Keeps informed and abreast of current vendor contracts, Bank policies and procedures; federal laws, regulations and Card Association's rules and bylaws that may have financial impact to the department. This may include business enhancements, pricing changes, vendor's operational changes and product development and performs all other miscellaneous responsibilities and duties as assigned.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution with major in accounting/finance or related area, or equivalent work experience.

    Experience:

    Analyst: Minimum 2 - 5 years of experience in progressively more responsible positions in finance/accounting, credit card acquiring transactions, bank operations procedures and controls or equivalent work experience. Experience should include accounting/finance responsibilities.

    Senior Analyst: Minimum 5 plus years of experience in progressively more responsible positions in finance/accounting, credit card acquiring transactions, bank operations procedures and controls or equivalent work experience.

    Technical Skills: Demonstrated proficiency and expertise with personal computers in a networked environment and Microsoft applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access and Power Point) or similar software. Ability to write advanced Excel formulas and Oracle SQL queries required. Knowledge of or ability to use Bank software and systems. Experience with VBA, Python or equivalent data analytic tools preferred.

    Other Job Qualifications: Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills, including presentation skills. Must be analytical, detail oriented, organized. Must be able to meet deadlines and handle multiple priorities. Effective and efficient team player with excellent interpersonal skills, who can also resolve problems independently. Knowledge of banking industry and products, as well as banking compliance as it pertains to credit card business. Able to work flexible hours including holidays, weekends and evenings as needed. Able to provide own transportation and commute as required.
