JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for making welding repairs on heavy equipment and heavy equipment buckets. Responsible for fueling, greasing, and performing preventative maintenance on all equipment, if required. May be called upon to assist other shop personnel on equipment repairs as needed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Inspect work area on a daily basis and fill out Work Area inspection sheet daily. Fill out risk assessment forms.
• Maintain a safe and clean work area and perform housekeeping as deemed by foreman.
• Accurately account for time spent working on equipment and enter digital timesheets accordingly.
• Must be willing to be task trained on all heavy equipment for traveling/troubleshooting purposes
• Accurately record equipment number, fuel used and meter readings of equipment.
• Grease, Fuel Equipment efficiently if called upon to do so.
• Properly complete requests for parts and work order forms.
• Demonstrate ability to learn at training classes given.
• May be called upon at discretion of foreman to assist other departments if necessary.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Learn and implement MSHA standards and regulations to insure a safe operating environment is maintained at all times. Report any safety concerns to the foreman immediately.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Works in varied weather conditions: in wet, dusty and noisy environment, hot and cold.
• Some danger due to working around equipment/plant and/or traffic.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Frequent lifting, bending, stooping, pulling, walking and working in strained positions.
• Employee must be willing to work long hours and overtime if necessary.

EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE:

• Welding experience required (Mig/Stick), Bucket welding experience preferred
• Cutting experience required (Torch & Air Arc)
• Mechanical skills necessary
• Ability to communicate effectively with and work well with other personnel.
