- Utilizes SVI patient education system as a resource for patients and family members.
- Number of beds on unit: 25
- Patient population: Surgical Care Unit- We are a Bariatric Center of Excellence , we care for a wide range of surgical procedures including colon resections, amputations, urology, plastics, and ENT procedures.
- Nurse to Patient ratio: Dayshift- 5 patients per nurse plus a charge nurse with no patients. Night shift 5/6 patients per nurse.
- Department culture and resources: Strong teamwork within the unit. Works closely with Springfield Clinic Residency Program.
- Frequent nursing skills/equipment used: Wound vacs, NG tubes, Drains, complex surgical patients.
