- Description Under the supervision of the Aquatics Director/Coordinator and in accordance with the Christian mission of the YMCA, the Swim Instructor is responsible for teaching swim lessons according to YMCA of the USA program standards.
Principle Activities: Teach swim lessons according to YMCA of the USA standardsCreate a positive learning environment through personal enthusiasmBe safety-conscious, maintain order and enforce rules during lessons to ensure swimmer safetyKeep accurate records of attendance and skills achieved by each student, each session.Provide each student with written records of progressUse swim aids effectively to maximize each individual's practice timeUtilize written lesson plans for each lesson to make the most efficient use of class time. Participate in all staff meetings and in-service trainingConduct program evaluations. Carries out additional duties as assigned by supervisor Requirements: Must be at least years oldMust successfully complete, and maintain current certification, as a YMCA Swim Lesson Instructor ( hours) prior to teaching alone or within days if a current Red Cross Swim InstructorCurrent status in the following certifications, to be renewed annually:Professional Level CPRFirst AidAutomatic External Defibrillator (AED)Oxygen AdministrationMust complete the following trainings before working first shift and are to be renewed annually: Blood Borne Pathogens and Child Abuse Prevention.Must complete YMCA of Greater Charlotte New Staff Connection prior to employmentMust complete I Create Loyalty Training within days of hireMust successfully complete at least 4 hours teaching under the direct supervision of the Aquatics Director/Coordinator or an experienced instructor before leading a class independentlyMust present a professional, mature image, and have excellent interpersonal communication skills Physical Requirements: WalkingSquattingPushing ( lbs)KneelingSitting CrouchingStoopingPulling ( lbs)VisionVocal ProjectionStandingCarrying( lbs)Lifting ( lbs)Hearing - Requirements The midpoint for this position is We typically offer new hires between the min-mid of the range unless they have higher than average experience for this role.
