Overview
The Maintenance Electrician performs a variety of electrical trade functions such as the installation, maintenance, or repair of equipment for the generation, distribution, or utilization of electric energy. Work involves most of the following: installing or repairing any of a variety of electrical equipment such as generators, transformers, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, motors, heating units, conduit systems, or other transmission equipment; working from blueprints, drawings, layouts, or other specifications, locating and diagnosing trouble in the electrical system or equipment, working standard computations relating to load requirements of wiring or electrical equipment, and using a variety of electrician's hand tools and measuring and testing instruments. In general, the work of the maintenance electrician requires rounded training and experience usually acquired through a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities:
Performs repairs and installation of electrical systems as directed by supervisor.
Assists in planning of work by design suggestions, materials take-offs, and labor estimates.
Communicates with work associates in an open and honest manner.
Participates in training as required by regulations and job requirements.
Plans wiring and installation of equipment and fixtures such as motors, generators, switches, circuit breakers, and fuse boxes.
Studies' building plans and work drawings to determine work aids required and sequence of installations.
Mark-up "As Built" drawings as required ensuring maintenance knowledge history.
Inspects wiring and fixtures for conformance to company specifications or local electrical codes.
Studies production schedules and estimates worker hour requirements for completion of job assignment.
Interprets specifications, blueprints, and job orders to workers, and assigns duties.
Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or work crew.
Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists workers in solving work problems.
Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.
Maintains time and production records.
Estimates, requisitions, and inspects materials.
Sets up machines and equipment.
Participates in training as required by regulations and job requirements.
Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
Prepares daily time and material reports as required.
Assists with preparation of labor and material estimates.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Other duties may be assigned to perform work outside craft, if workload requires.
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

This job operates primarily in an industrial environment with some time spent in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Some flexibility in hours is allowed, but the employee must be available during their "core" work hours. Overtime may be required as job demands.
Qualifications
Education & Certifications:
High School Diploma and three to five years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
An electrician's license is preferable.
Must possess a valid unrestricted driver license and must have and maintain an acceptable driving record.
Experience & Requirements:
Must pass a through U.S. Government background check administered by the Department of Interior, Bureau of Reclamation.

C ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN VI (INDUSTRIAL ELECTRICIAN)
A. Possess a thorough understanding of Paradox Valley Unit Plant functions.
B. Electrical System Maintenance – Possess the ability to diagnose and repair electrical problems associated with an industrial plant such as circuits, programmable logic controllers, variable frequency drives, communications, solid state devices and C-25 motors, by utilizing blueprints, flow schematics and diagnostic tools and instrumentation.
C. Electrical Component Installation – Ability to install electrical industrial components in accordance with applicable national codes.
D. Codes – Possess general knowledge, and the ability to read and interpret the NFPA 70 (NEC), NFPA 70B (Recommend Practice for Electrical Equipment Maintenance, and NFPA 70E (Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace).
E. Communication – Possess the ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing and interpret Standing Operating Instructions and Maintenance Instructions.
F. Possess basic computer skills.
Employment Status:
Employed by Veolia (Prime Contractor to the Paradox Valley Operations, Maintenance & Repair Contract) but the formal non-exempt position title and hourly rate officially fall under the US Government Service Contract Act (SCA) and the latest US Government SCA Wage Determination, listed as SCA Position #23183 Electronics Technician Maintenance III. In this case, SCA Wage Determination , Revision 29, released 03 December 2025 applies, at an hourly rate of $41.28.
