Description
GENERAL SUMMARY:
Performs interventional radiology and invasive cardiology procedures under the supervision of a qualified physician.
Uses radiologic technology and techniques to assist in the diagnosis of patient medical problems for patients throughout the age continuum.
PRINCIPAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. *Commits to the mission, vision, beliefs and consistently demonstrates our core values.
2. *Assists Interventional Radiologist or Cardiologist in all types of procedures performed with angiography, fluoroscopy and ultrasound.
3. *Practices radiation and laser safety for patients, staff and self.
4. *Uses sterile technique as required.
5. *Optimally demonstrates patient anatomy through proper positioning and selection of technical factors. Records, analyzes and documents clinical patient information; recognizes and communicates arrhythmias; monitors arterial and/or venous pressure lines.

*Functions in the first scrub role by preparing, organizing and anticipating needed instruments, supplies and equipment for safe patient care for interventional radiology and invasive cardiology procedures.
*Utilizes hospital and department computer systems, files and PACS to review patient history and to provide accurate documentation of studies to include patient clinical information.
9. *Properly cares for and images patients of all ages; maintains patient confidentiality.10.
*Coordinates exams within the department and with other departments to provide expedient and complete care; communicates with medical staff, coworkers, patients, families and other hospital staff to ensure quality patient care; shares pertinent information regarding patient conditions with physicians, nurses and other professional staff as needed for patient care.
11. *Handles telephone calls for scheduling, coordination or questions with courtesy and accuracy.14. *Cleans, disinfects and maintains equipment as necessary; notifies supervisor of equipment problems and calls appropriate service vendors as needed.
15. *Keeps work area properly supplied.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Graduate from a school of radiologic technology with current certification or eligibility for certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) required.
