    Camp Counselor Is A New Summer Position At Township Of Pine Community Center


    Pay: $13 p/h + End Of Summer Bonus Opportunity

    Hours: Up To 40 Hours

    Shift: Monday - Friday, Variable Hours, 7:30am - 6:00pm

    Anticipated Start: May 2024

    Duration: Up To 16 Weeks; Summer Seasonal


    Purpose:

    Under the direction of Recreation Program Manager or Program Coordinator, supervises children campers grade 1-6 while providing a safe and fun camp environment.

    Essential Functions:

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Administers age-appropriate activities, crafts and games with enthusiasm and calm demeanor.
    • Teaches and demonstrates positive role model behavior such as collaboration, sportsmanship, respect and friendliness with children campers.
    • Maintains open and regular communication with parents regarding upcoming activities and feedback of child(ren) behavior.
    • Ensures safety at all times for the internal and/or external camp environment.
    • Prepares, organizes, sets up, removes, and cleans activity equipment and supplies.
    • Alerts Camp Coordinator and/or Program Coordinator of low inventory equipment and supplies.
    • Completes appropriate records/documentation.
    • Able to provide professional critique or discussion with guests, of all ages, regarding rules and regulations.
    • Maintains and uses appropriate language that is customer service centered, respectful, friendly and family centric. Vulgar or inappropriate language will not be tolerated.
    • Accurately and thoroughly complete incident reports in collaboration with Camp Coordinator and/or Program Coordinator.
    • Follows program rules, policies and protocols.
    • Register people for programs; fill in when necessary.
    • Has the ability and comfort level of working independently.
    • Perform or assist with other delegated tasks or duties.

    Additional Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Communicates regularly with leadership and fellow camp co-workers, on staffing, statistics, events, safety concerns, equipment failure, supply shortage, incidents, observe, witness to inappropriate behavior, unethical activity or other.
    • Exhibits patience, understanding, effective leadership and mentoring skills with children, teenage and college aged employees or program participants.
    • Coordinate with Front Desk staff to provide excellent customer communication and service.
    • Ensure program opening and closing procedures are adhered to for the safety of internal and external customers.
    • Positive, regular presence and interaction among members, stakeholders, staff, program participants, Park visitors - presence and interaction to include weekends, evenings and events.
    • Participate in events as scheduled or required.
    • Maintains confidentiality with sensitive events, members, customers, visitors, employees, corporate sensitive information, etc.
    • Participate in company training, committees and meetings.
    • Assist with emergency and non-emergency situations.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Education and Experience Requirements

    • Must be at least 16 years of age at the time of employment.
    • High School Diploma or GED preferred, not required.
    • 1-2 years' experience coordinating and supervising events and programs preferred.
