    Senior Power Electronics Design Engineer

    Location: Pittsburgh, PA


    Position type: Hybrid


    Our client, a leading player in the North American power systems, rail transportation, and large visual display markets, is seeking a Senior Electrical Design Engineer for their Critical Power Solutions Division (CPSD).

    In this role, you will be responsible for performing engineering and project management activities related to the design, development, application, customer order design, manufacture, assembly, test, installation, and servicing of Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) products.


    Key Responsibilities:


    • Develop CPSD products designed for local manufacture and lead design improvements and cost reduction initiatives for existing UPS products.
    • Design U.S. components to replace imported components, aiming to enhance CPSD product quality and cost.
    • Review order documents to ensure technical compliance with the contract, addressing exceptions, clarifications, and confirmations to customer technical specifications when required.
    • Prepare product Bills of Materials, design drawings, and specifications to support order placements and manufacturing/assembly operations.
    • Provide design leadership, direction, and clarification for internal and external design teams. Act as a project lead for design, test, and prototype programs.
    • Collaborate with customers and vendors to resolve technical issues and answer technical questions.
    • Provide technical leadership and information concerning assembly, testing techniques, and process advantages and limitations affecting longrange plant and product engineering planning.
    • Research and analyze operational test data to establish performance standards and confirm if designs meet functional and performance specifications.
    • Assist Manufacturing and Quality Assurance with any designrelated production problems.
    • Coordinate product design with listing agencies to obtain product listings such as UL.
    • Travel to customer sites and/or trade shows to provide product support and deliver presentations and training as required.

    Qualifications:


    • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with a minimum of 7 years' experience in a design engineering capacity, or equivalent education and experience.
    • Advanced knowledge of UPS products, switchgear, transformers, and battery systems.
    • Strong analytical and problemsolving skills.
    • Advanced interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills required to interact with customers, employees, and vendors.
    • Ability to read, understand, and create technical drawings and materials.
    • Capable of managing several projects simultaneously.
    • Proficient in computer skills, with an emphasis on MS Office products, CAD, and engineering analysis software.
