    New Creatively Driven Seafood Focused Restaurant Opening Downtown Manhattan

    We are looking for an experienced Chef de Cuisine to join our team.

    Responsibilities:

    + Consistently executes culinary direction of the company.

    + Guide sous chefs and line cooks in executing new menu items

    + Monitoring food production, ordering, cost, quality, and consistency on a daily basis

    + Directly supervising and managing all kitchen staff including but not limited to line cooks, porters, and prep cooks; overseeing scheduling, payroll, training, coaching, evaluating, and hiring

    + Guiding, coaching, counseling, developing, training and inspiring employees in a leadership role which promotes teamwork and enhances the overall service experience while maximizing productivity

    + Participating in the hiring process alongside the Human Resources team; conducting interviews, hiring, training, coaching and counseling

    + Ensuring that DOH standards are always followed

    + Conducts proper premeal and other educational seminars with front of the house employees

    + Problem solving, delegation and strong verbal & written communication

    + Maintaining cleanliness of any BOH work areas, including and not limited to refrigeration, cooking equipment, and prep areas.

    + Participate in deep cleaning of BOH work areas, including and not limited to refrigeration, cooking equipment, and prep areas.



    Skills & Requirements:

    + At least 3+ years previous service or supervisory experience at an operation with similar culinary, service, and operational standards

    + Ability to form and lead a strong BOH team.

    + Relationships with local farmers and fisheries, as well as wholesale suppliers, a plus

    + Excellent kitchen and facilities operation knowledge

    + Must be fluent in English and helpful to be conversational in Spanish

    + Ability to demonstrate leadership skills; inspires and motivates others to perform well

    + Clear, strong verbal and written communication skills

    + Excellent knife skills

    + Advanced experience in cooking techniques

    + Advanced knowledge of kitchen machinery and maintenance
