    How Is This Role Important to Our Work?

    This internship will support the provider relations team with functions related to provider contracting, provider payment, value-based payment design and reporting. Projects may include identifying process improvement efficiencies, meeting agenda planning, project management, analytical support, development of internal dashboards and development of provider reports.

    A few highlights of this summer internship (residency) include:

  • Access to executive Blue Cross and Blue Shield leadership through introductory meetings scheduled on behalf of the intern.
  • Opportunity to engage in additional projects related to your areas of career / business interest in addition to internship project.
  • Attendance at Provider Relations business unit meetings with divisional leadership.
  • Bi-weekly meetings with Senior Director in Provider Relations to discuss your internship project, healthcare, other topics of interest and career development.

    Day in the Life
  • Assist in the development of provider reports supporting value-based care.
  • Assist value-based programs department with translating information into actionable provider data.
  • Extracts and summarizes data.
  • Performs data analysis for internal or external discussions.
  • Develops mathematical model templates to execute strategic decisions.
  • Other ad hoc projects as needed.

    Nice to Have:
  • Completion of 1st Year Master Student Program (MHA, MBA, MPH) by June 2024.
  • Previous internship experience in healthcare
  • Undergrad degree in Business, Finance, Mathematics, Statistics, or related major
  • Undergrad exposure classes in Healthcare, Behavioral Health, Public Health, or related

    Required Skills and Experiences:
  • Spring 2024 graduate or fall 2024 is the final semester of a 4 year accredited academic institution.
  • 3.0 grade point average on a 4.0 scale
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate and analyze data sets.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks with competing priorities.
  • Demonstrated personal computer skills and the willingness to learn the use of a suite of software tools (such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel).Make A Difference
