    The Opportunity

    Center for Employment Opportunities is actively seeking a motivated and experienced Full-Time Payroll Coordinator to collect, review, and analyze payroll information to effectively administer deductions from pay, such as child support, state and federal tax levies, and the like.

    This position provides payroll-related support and works collaboratively with all departments, including Human Resources, Compliance, and Finance, to ensure timely collection and payment of garnishments.

    The Center for Employment Opportunities (CEO) provides employment services to people recently released from incarceration.

    Across the United States, 8,000-9,000 people participate in CEO each year, transitioning to employment that supports themselves, their families, and their communities.

    What began as a demonstration project of the Vera Institute of Justice in the 1970s to address employment barriers facing the formerly incarcerated following release in New York City has grown into the leading reentry employment organization in the country, where over 30,000 formerly incarcerated individuals have secured full-time employment since 1996.

    What You'll Be Responsible For

    Key responsibilities of the Payroll Coordinator include but are not limited to:

    Garnishment and Employment Verification Duties
    Process court-ordered wage garnishments for employees, including child support, student loans, bankruptcy orders, and state and federal tax levies
    Research and respond to inquiries from employees, courts, and state and federal agencies regarding garnishment orders
    Set up and maintain the garnishment set-up table in the Payroll system
    Enter wage garnishment orders into the payroll system, accurately and in a timely manner
    Ensure all garnishment payments are accurate and in compliance with withholding orders and the state or federal laws relating to the orders
    Respond to employment verifications for CEO participants
    Collaborate with Compliance Department to provide documentation for subpoena requests in a timely manner
    Collect and sort Payroll Dept mail
    Respond to the Attorneys and Courts regarding legal documents, to prevent default judgments against the company
    Investigate and resolve any garnishment-related issues.
    Perform other related duties as assigned

    Daily Payroll Duties
    Consistently, and accurately process "daily" payroll for 600+ employees on schedule for multiple entities across different states
    Process and pay daily Rapid Rewards, Support Services, Stipends, and Incentives payments to employees.
    Work with Participant Scheduling Department to resolve pay discrepancies
    Answer employee questions and concerns via Cases in Salesforce system or email
    Process and update tax-exempt W-4s submitted by employees in ADP Workforce Now payroll system
    Updating Netspend (Skylight) paycard Wage Statement Portal weekly, to ensure employee pay statements are available when needed
    Resolve paycard enrollment errors such as incorrect date of birth, address, social security numbers, incorrect account numbers provided, and employee's name
    Researches and resolves questions from managers and employees as they relate to the processing of payroll information including sick pay, banking, garnishments, retroactive pay calculations, tax questions, and other changes submitted via Cases in the Salesforce system
    Assist the finance department to prepare and record monthly payroll general entries
    Review and ensure the accuracy of all year-end statements including W2 statements
    Preparing financial reports for accounting and auditing purposes
    Preparing periodic payroll reports for review by management
    Participate as project manager or team member on various projects as needed

    This is a high-growth, fast-paced small organization. The ability to be productive and successful in an intense work environment is critical.

    Compensation and Benefits

    The salary range for this position is $46,700-$51,500/annually.

    CEO's compensation philosophy considers a variety of factors including experience, internal equity, and the labor market associated with the city in which the position is located.

    The labor markets associated with the cities in which CEO is based are variable, and the salary range included here reflects this.

    Our salary offer will fall within this range and will be reflective of the labor market of the city in which the position is based, as well the other factors named above.
